Here Come the Intel Core 2 Duo Chips

So you just got your Core Duo-based Mac or PC notebook, and you're sitting on top of the world. After all, you have the most advanced notebook-based processor on the planet, right? I mean, what could go wrong? Ladies and gentlemen, meet the Intel Core 2 Duo. It's a next-generation version of the suddenly obsolete Core Duo, and it will run at speeds as fast as 2.93GHz, offer as much as 4MB of cache, and will come in both low-wattage and high-performance versions. The Core 2 Duo will be marketed at the desktop market for the first time. (Apple was the only machine maker to use Core Duo chips in non-laptops.) Look for them around the end of July
