Forget Fancy Features, Give Us More Battery Life

As cell phone companies rush to add features to their mobile phones, they might want to consider the results of a new survey. TNS, a market information firm, talked to users in 15 countries and discovered that the most important feature users are looking for is longer battery life. Consumers have avoided using games, music, and video applications on their mobile phones because of battery-life concerns, according to the survey. Other important features that users are looking for include high-resolution photo and video, and additional memory. The survey asked what features users are currently utilizing and found that 46 percent of mobile users are using multimedia text messaging and 59 percent are using cell-phone cameras. Unless cell-phone companies start to pay more attention to the fundamentals, such as better battery life and better voice quality, all the features in the world are useless.
