Apple Ships New iMac G5, eMac Models

I wasn't a huge fan of the iMac G5 when it first came out, but the design is starting to win me over, even as reports of overly-hot iMac systems makes me wonder but its long-term viability. In any event, the new iMac now sports faster G5 processors (up to 2.0 GHz with a 667 MHz system bus), 512 MB of memory, an 8x SuperDrive, and, yes, Tiger, the latest version of Mac OS X. The iMac also includes the priceless iLife '05 digital media suite, which is enough to make any PC user envious. Prices are still a bit high: The low-end version starts at $1300, while the 20-inch 2.0 GHz model retails for a whopping $1800, which is over three times the price of an average PC these days. On the other hand, the 20-inch iMac is anything but average. Worth a look.
