802.11ax: Benefits, Challenges and Use Cases

Date: Tuesday, April 09, 2019
Time: 02:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time
Duration: 1 hour

IEEE 802.11ax – also becoming known as Wi-Fi 6 – is the latest in a long line of major physical-layer standards for wireless LAN (WLAN) technology. Incorporating a remarkable set of advances, 802.11ax promises higher throughput, greater capacity, improved reliability and many more features, along with backward compatibility to earlier standards. In short, .11ax is truly the latest and greatest.

But with many organizations still in the process of installing systems and solutions based on the previous standard, 802.11ac, and with the net generational throughput increase smaller than with previous new physical-layer (PHY) standards, it’s not clear that uptake of .11ax will be as robust as we’ve seen with previous generations. No matter; while such might take a few years, the success of 802.11ax is guaranteed and the improved price/performance and that backward compatibility will begin to drive installations in 2019.

This webinar will explore the most important elements of 802.11ax and put this latest advance in context for IT managers, network managers and network operations professionals. We’ll provide general explanations of the complex technologies behind .11ax, making the benefits of these easy to understand, and discuss how and why 802.11ax will grow to dominate the Wi-Fi scene over the next five years.
