Microsoft will formerly replace the Exchange client that comes withExchange Server 5.0 with Outlook next week. Outlook first shipped with Office 97 but Microsoft would like to ensure that Exchange Server usersswitch the higher-end Outlook client as quickly as possible so it will nolonger make the lower-end Exchange clients available. Microsoft is alsoshipping a new Service Pack for Exchange Server 5.0 that includes bugfixes and performance enhancements along with Outlook Web Access and a newversion of the Outlook client (version 8.0.2). Outlook Web Access allows users to access mail (including attachments and public folders) through a secure Web page.

"The existing Exchange clients will be maintained but not extended," saidDave Malcolm, group product manager for Exchange at Microsoft
