The ability to back up full-resolution/full-quality photos and videos to SkyDrive was one of the best new features in Windows Phone 8. There was just one problem: It wasn’t available worldwide. This week, however, Microsoft announced that the feature is available everywhere.

“Today I am pleased to announce that we’re making the ability to back up full-res photos and videos available everywhere,” Microsoft’s KC Lemson wrote in a post to the Windows Phone Blog. “We just started to light this up, so be patient if you don’t see it right away. The change could take a few days to roll out around the globe.”

If you’re not familiar about this feature, check out my article Windows Phone Tip: Backup and Restore. “Windows Phone 8, finally, lets you automatically upload photos and videos (i.e. those taken with the device’s internal camera) to SkyDrive in full-quality, a first,” I wrote. “Doing so requires a Wi-Fi connection.”
