Microsoft Releases App Promotion API for Windows Store

A new API for the Windows Store from Microsoft will allow companies to promote apps and manage related ad campaigns for those Windows Store based apps.

The new programming interface is intended for use by media agencies to take advantage of the Promote your App feature in the Windows Dev Center which provides the opportunity to grow and interact with the apps audience.

This includes taking advantage of the targeting settings and ad templates so those apps can be advertised to other Windows users.

"These APIs are a powerful way of accessing your ad campaigns – they allow for bulk operations and features such as sharing creatives and/or targeting templates across campaigns. For media agencies handling large volumes of advertising, the APIs allow for flexibility while creating campaigns as well as viewing reporting data."

In order to get started using this new API, media agencies need to send an email to [email protected] to get access to the program.

Microsoft has also provided information about steps you can take to get ready for API access and full documents on using the API, including some code samples, are available here.
