There's a feature in SQL Server that's been around for years but I have never met anyone who uses it - multi-server job management. In "Multiserver Administration", as it is called in the BOL, you can create a master server operator, that is, a central server that controls all of the other servers, called target servers. The central server can then execute jobs on any and all target servers as well as poll them to monitor their status.
If you've ever attended one of my sessions at PASS, TechEd, or IT Forum, you know that I focus heavily on easing database administration through automation. I use lots of other little know features, such as event forwarding, to automate and reduce my workload. But I have to admit that this is a feature that I've largely ignored because I don't strongly understand the value proposition.
So this is my call to you! Do you use multiserver administration? If so, how? And I also want to know if you've ever looked at using it, but decided not to. What was your thought on the feature?
