Education for the SQL Server Community at IT/Dev Connections

Annual SQL Server Connections conference Sept. 30 - Oct. 4, 2013 in Las Vegas

IT/Dev Connections, a part of Penton's Technology Group and the premier annual professional development and networking event for the Microsoft technology community, today announced the targeted educational opportunities the conference offers through SQL Server Connections. IT/Dev Connections has been educating the technology industry for 13 years.

IT/Dev Connections will take place October 1-3, 2013 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. The pre-conference workshops are September 30, 2013 and post-conference workshops are October 4, 2013.

According to Microsoft, during Q3FY13, revenue from server and tools grew 11 percent driven by SQL Server and Windows Server growth. Many Microsoft customers depend on SQL Server systems for mission critical and business intelligence needs, specifically in the big data analytics domain. As a result, Microsoft’s SQL Server revenue grew by 16 percent, outpacing the market.

Tim Ford, the SQL Server Connections content chair, said, "I thought the hardest part of chairing SQL Server Connections was selecting the speakers. I was wrong. The most difficult aspect will be deciding which sessions I am going to be able to attend."

Keynote presenters and technical sessions will provide attendees with the information and new skills that will help SQL Server DBAs and developers be more effective in their day-to-day jobs. The featured keynotes are Mark Minasi, Senior Contributing Editor, Windows IT Pro and Miguel de Icaza, CTO at Xamarin. The keynotes will be delivered on Monday, September 30 at 5 p.m., Tuesday, October 1 at 8:30 a.m. and Wednesday, October 2 at 8:30 a.m.

Each workshop provides attendees with six hours of in-depth classroom training from a wide variety of SQL Server experts and MVPs, including Itzik Ben-Gan, Stacia Misner, Andrew Kelly, Denny Cherry, and Andy Leonard

Key workshops for SQL Server attendees include:

  • Pre-conference - T-SQL Querying and Query Tuning Enhancements in the Latest Major Releases of SQL Server by Itzik Ben-Gan
