I've linked a SharePoint list to Microsoft Office Outlook 2007. This setup has worked great for quite some time, but now I don't see any updates when I view the list in Outlook. I also now get the following Send/Receive error in Outlook: Task ‘SharePoint' Reported error (0x80004005): An error occurred in this SharePoint List (list name). What can I do to solve this problem?
With both Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, the ability to link SharePoint lists and document libraries to Outlook 2007 is a fantastic feature. It lets you take this information offline and synchronize it back to SharePoint at a later time. If you move or delete the linked list or document Library in SharePoint (which is likely what happened in your case), the link in Outlook 2007 isn't automatically updated; you'll need to update it manually. To do so, you need to delete the link in Outlook, then reattach it if so desired. To delete a link to a SharePoint list or document library in Outlook, locate it in the left vertical folder structure, right-click to open the context menu, and click Delete.

I'm using Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and recently discovered there's no easy way to navigate from My Site back to my main SharePoint intranet portal. The navigation breadcrumb exists for other sites, but not for My Site. Can I enable this functionality for My Site?
This is a good question and one that I receive quite often. If you have a single intranet portal, or one that you call your home portal, you can configure an individual My Site to include it in the breadcrumb navigation. To do so, perform the following steps:

  1. While on your My Site, choose Site Settings, Modify All Site Settings from the Site Actions menu.
  2. From the Site Settings page, select the Portal site connection option.
  3. You'll now see a screen that lets you specify a portal site address.
  4. Enter the URL and name of the portal site you want your My Site to be connected to, then click OK.

That's all there is to it. Notice, in the upper left corner of your My Site, the breadcrumb navigation bar has been updated to include a link to your portal.

Is there a way to easily change the site structure in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007?
I can happily say, "Yes there is." Microsoft has made it quite simple for you to reorganize the hierarchy of sites in your portal. And you do it all from within your browser. To accomplish this reorganization, perform these steps:

  1. While on your portal, choose Site Settings, Modify All Site Settings from the Site Actions menu. (Note: Depending on the site template, your Site Actions menu may include an option called Manage Content and Structure. If this option is available, select it and skip step 2.)
  2. From the Site Settings page, select the Content and structure option. You should now be presented with the Site Content and Structure page. In the left column, you'll see a tree structure of your site collection.
  3. Hover your mouse over any site and select Move or Copy from the drop-down menu.
  4. Select either Move or Copy, depending on the operation you want to perform.
  5. A popup window will appear, giving you another site hierarchy where you can specify the destination of the Move or Copy operation. Select the destination for your site and click OK.

SharePoint will now take care of the rest of the reorganization, moving or copying your site from one location to the desired location.
