Understanding apps reported from Azure AD Cloud App Discovery

Q. I'm seeing lots of websites in Azure AD Cloud App Discovery dashboard that I don't believe are used in my company, why are they there?

A. Firstly the whole point of Azure AD Cloud App Discovery is to find applications that are used that the IT department may not know about so expect to see services you were not aware were being used. It is also likely you will see some "noise" sites as some sites call other sites such as social sites, advertising sites and so on. I did a test and noticed many sites that I never directly accessed such as Linkedin, Rubicon Project, Enterprise Security Center, DigiCert, Symantec and more. While Microsoft are working to reduce "noise" expect to see some sites that users are not actually directly leveraging.
