Xbox Music for Windows Phone 8.1 Updated for 4th Time

The poster child for rapid release

Microsoft on Tuesday delivered the fourth update to the Xbox Music app in Windows Phone 8.1, making improvements in several key areas. The update also changes the behavior of the app's live tile, which now matches your theme's accent color (instead of being green) and, if enabled, background image transparency.

The June 10 update for Xbox Music for Windows Phone 8.1 bumps the version number to 2.5.3965.0. According to Microsoft, this update includes the following changes:

Faster scrolling in the Songs view. The Songs list scrolls faster.

Play more than 100 songs at once. You can now add more than 100 songs to your playback queue. This means that "shuffle all" will add more variety to your listening experience.

Live tile changes. App and pinned tiles support custom backgrounds and theme colors.

Better artist backgrounds. Artist art backgrounds now load more smoothly.

Improved purchasing. Songs already in your collection can now be purchased.

Performance improvements.

As noted, this is the fourth update to the app since the initial Windows Phone 8.1 release. Microsoft provided the first update to the app in late April, adding Cortana integration and some UI improvements. The second update (early May) added a music scrubber to Now Playing. The third update (late May) added swipe-based track changing in Now Playing and some minor UI changes.

And more is coming. Microsoft says that future updates will add Kid's Corner support, more performance and reliability improvements and more.
