Windows 2000 is incorrectly reporting a volume set size after creation, what can I do?

A. To correct this problem you need to make a change via the registry editor. It is caused if you do not immediately restart your computer after you create a
volume set using the Disk Administrator tool, and the computer may not properly report the correct partition size.

  1. Start the registry editor (regedt32.exe, not regedit.exe)
  2. Move to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager
  3. Double click BootExecute
  4. Add a new line
    autochk /x D:

  5. Click OK
  6. Close the registry editor
  7. Reboot the machine
