A. A. This is usually caused by the parallel service not running. To check/fix perform the following:
- Start the registry editor (regedit.exe)
- Move to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Parallel
- Double click on Start
- If the value is 0 it means the service will start to early in the bootup so change this to 2 and click OK
- Close the registry editor
- Reboot the machine
If you still have problems also check the Parport and ParVdm services under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ as theses are also needed for parallel printing.
Another cause for this error is if LPT1 is disabled via the system BIOS so you should also check this.
