Recovery Console Commands

The Windows 2000 (Win2K) Recovery Console supports the following commands:

Attrib Change attributes on one file or directory.
Batch Executes commands specified in a text file.
ChDir (CD) Displays the name of the current directory, or switches to a new directory.
Chkdsk Checks a disk and displays a status report.
Cls Clears the screen.
Copy Copies a single file to another location.
Delete (DEL) Deletes one file.
Dir Displays a list of files and subdirectories in a directory.
Disable Disables a Windows system service or a driver.
Diskpart Manages partitions on your hard drives.
Enable Enables a Windows system service or a driver.
Exit Exits the Recovery Console and restarts your computer.
Expand Expands a compressed file.
Fixboot Writes a new boot sector onto the system partition.
Fixmbr Repairs the master boot record of the boot partition.
Format Formats a disk for use with Win2K.
Help Displays a list of commands you can use in the Recovery Console.
Listsvc Lists all available services and drivers on the computer.
Logon Logs on to a Win2K installation.
Map Displays the drive letter mappings.
MkDir (MD) Creates a directory.
More Displays a text file to the screen.
Rename (REN) Renames a single file.
RmDir (RD) Removes (deletes) a directory.
Set Displays and sets Recovery Console environment variables.
Systemroot Sets the current directory to the systemroot.
Type Displays a text file to the screen.
