Previewing animation on a slide

PowerPoint can give you a preview of a slide's animation in the Normal view or in the Slide Sorter view. You no longer have to go to the Slide Show view to see the animation.

  • If AutoPreview is selected at the bottom of the Animation Schemes or Custom Animation task pane, you will see a quick preview of the animation effect or scheme each time you click an element in the list.
  • You can preview the animation at any time by clicking the Play button.
  • Each effect is shown in order, with no delay between elements. So the preview may not accurately reflect the timing or triggers used to introduce effects in your presentation.
  • To see exactly what the animations will look like when you deliver your presentation, click the Slide Show button at the bottom of the task pane. The slide show will begin at the current slide, allowing you to view the exact animation effects and timing that you have configured. When you wish to return to the slide to make more changes, just press Esc.
