To promote one of its brands, a soft-drink company has announced plans to team up with an online music service. No, we're not talking about Pepsi and Apple, whose lame Super Bowl ads were underwhelming. We're talking about a new deal that teams MusicMatch with Coca-Cola. The two companies will work together to promote the Sprite brand. Details about the promotion haven't been released yet, but don't be surprised if it's similar to the Pepsi/Apple deal, which includes giving away 100 million songs from the iTunes Music Store. Who knows, 2004 might be the year we forget the CD and buy music online in large numbers--while our teeth rot.
