JSI Tip 9379. You are able to place Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 in Standby during a file copy to an ACPI compliant device?

While you are copying a file to an ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) compliant device., such as a USB floppy disk drive, if you attempt to place the computer into Standby mode, the S1 system power state, it will, because the device is power managed by the system.

Windows will attempt to complete the file copy when the computer resumes from Standby, but I wouldn't trust the results.

To avoid this behavior, wait until all file copies have completed to ACPI compliant devices before you place the computer on Standby.
