JSI Tip 8907. After you install the MS03-013 security update on Windows 2000 Professional, a restart BSODs with STOP 0x00000071?

The subject BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) will occur if you had not installed SP3 before installing the MS03-013 security update, as instructed in the Prerequisites.

The problem occurs because of a mismatch of the kernel files.

To resolve this problem:

1. Start the Recovery Recovery and log on to the Windows 2000 Professional operating system instance.

2. Type the following commands, pressing Enter after each line:

cd C:\Winnt\System32
ren Ntoskrnl.exe ntoskrnl.bad
cd C:\Winnt\$ntuninstallq811493$
copy Ntoskrnl.exe C:\winnt\system32Exit
