JSI Tip 8707. When you update a Windows XP SP1 distribution point to Windows XP SP2, or Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, the MSJVM files are removed?

When you run update.exe /integrate:<File Path> to update a Windows XP SP1 distribution point to Windows XP SP2, or Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, the MSJVM (MicroSoft Java Virtual Machine) files in Windows XP SP1 are removed from the distribution point.

To workaround this behavior, create a separate distribution point for Windows XP SP2. When you install Windows XP SP2 from a separate distribution point, the MSJVM files are NOT removed from client computers.

NOTE: See How to install Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) by using Systems Management Server.
