The easiest way to display detail information about your Windows XP computer's, or Windows Server 2003 computer's, time zone is:
1. Open a CMD.EXE window.
2. Type w32tm /tz and press Enter.
3. Information about the time zone setting, similar to the following, will be displayed on the CMD console:
Time zone: Current:TIME_ZONE_ID_DAYLIGHT Bias: 300min (UTC=LocalTime+Bias) \[Standard Name:"Eastern Standard Time" Bias:0min Date:(M:10 D:5 DoW:0)\] \[Daylight Name:"Eastern Daylight Time" Bias:-60min Date:(M:4 D:1 DoW:0)\]The above display indicates:
1. My computer is currently set for daylight savings time.
2. The local time is 300 minutes (5 hours) earlier than UTC (Universal Time Coordinate or GMT).
3. My time zone, named Eastern Standard Time or Eastern Daylight Time switched from Standard Time to Daylight Time on the first Sunday of April (M:4 D:1 DoW:0) and switches back to Standard Time on the 5th Sunday in October (M:10 D:5 DoW:0), this year.
NOTE: You could also type timezone /g, which also works for Windows 2000.
