JSI Tip 8168. The MSMQ icon does NOT appear in the Windows 2000 Control Panel?

When you install MSMQ in dependent-client mode, the MSMQ icon does NOT appear in Control Panel.

This behavior will occur if you provided the FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) for the supporting server.

To resolve this problem:

1. Start / Run / Regedit / OK.

2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSMQ\Parameters.

3. Double-click the RemoteQMMachine Value Name, a string (REG_SZ) data type, and set the data value to the NetBIOS computer name of the supporting server.

4. Close the Registry Editor.

NOTE: If the FQDN of the supporting server is JSI002.JSIINC.COM, set RemoteQMMachine to JSI002.
