JSI Tip 8096. You cannot install MCMS 2001 if the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine is not installed?

When you attempt to install MCMS 2001 (Microsoft Content Management Server 2001) on Windows 2000 SP4, or later, you receive:

Failed to meet the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (MSJVM) installation requirement.

You are unable to continue the installation.

Windows 2000 SP4, and later, DO NOT contain the MSJVM.

To fix this problem:

01. Open a CMD.EXE window.

02. Switch to (CD) the folder that contains the MCMS 2001 Setup program files.

03. Using the exact case, type "mscms server.msi" NOCHECK=Yes and press Enter.

04. Follow the installation Wizard instructions. DO NOT install Site Builder.

05. Press Next when you receive the message that the MSJVM is not installed.

06. Press Ignore when you receive:

Error 1904.Module C:\Program Files\Microsoft Content Management Server\Shared Files\AEJavaProxy.dll failed to register. HRESULT - 2147221164. Contact your support personnel.

07. When the installation finishes, apply the latest service pack for MCMS 2001.

08. Install the Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1 redistributable package.

09. Install the Microsoft Visual J# .NET version 1.1 redistributable package.

10. Install the Content Management Server 2001 Site Builder Refresh package.

NOTE: Only the Site Builder component of MCMS 2001 required MSJVM. The Refresh version DOES NOT, but relies on .NET Framework 1.1 and Microsoft Visual J# .NET 1.1.
