Even though Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack 1 is installed, you receive the subject message when you attempt to install the 816835 - Redirected Hyperlinks from Office Documents Do Not Work in Internet Explorer 6 fix.
If the Microsoft Office Language Setting dialog is configured with a non English (US) setting, you may experience this behavior.
To workaround this behavior:
1. Start / Programs / Microsoft Office Tools / Microsoft Office <version> Language Settings.
2. Select the User Interface tab.
3. Change the setting in the Display menus and ..... to English.
4. Press OK.
5. Apply the 816835 fix.
