JSI Tip 6887. Access violation when you run SPY++ in Windows Server 2003?

When you use the Spy menu to select Processes or Threads, the SPY++ program from Microsoft Visual Studio 6 or Microsoft Visual Studio .NET issues:

The instruction at "0x0043d5cc" referenced memory at "0x4352680b". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

If you run SPY++ as a limited user, you will experience this behavior when the program attempts to open the performance counter registry keys.

To fix this problem, the user should be added to the local Performance Monitor Users group on the server.
