Autorun CD Menu --------------------- To use this companion CD, insert it into your CD-ROM drive. If AutoRun is not enabled on your computer, run StartCD.exe in the root of the CD to display the start menu. The menu provides you with links to all the resources available on the CD and for accessing the Microsoft Press product support Web site. Windows Resource Kit Tools ------------------------------------------------- To install the tools and Help documentation, run the rktools.msi file in the \Tools folder and follow the instructions that appear on your screen. To access the tools and the Help documentation installed on your system, select Start, then Programs (or All Programs), and then Windows Resource Kit Tools. Electronic Book (eBook) of Microsoft Windows XP Professional Resource Kit, Second Edition ------------------------------------------------------------ The complete text of the original print book is contained on this CD in a fully searchable electronic version. To install the eBook, run AUTORUN.EXE in the \eBook folder. Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or later and the proper HTML Help components are required to view the eBook. If your computer runs on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP, or Microsoft Windows Server 2003, you will need administrative privileges to install the eBook. ============== Troubleshooting -------------------- Long file names on CD and 16-bit CD-ROM drives: If you have an older, 16-bit CD-ROM drive and you browse this CD, you will see truncated filenames on folders and files. Contact your CD-ROM drive manufacturer for information about this issue and for the latest driver updates. Manually copying files from CD-ROM: If you manually copy the sample files from CD-ROM to your hard disk, you may need to remove each file's read-only attribute in order to use the file. To do so, right-click the file in My Computer or Windows Explorer and click Properties in the context menu. On the General tab, clear the Read-Only check box in the Attributes section. Click OK.
