JSI Tip 6817. The common name on the user certificate is displayed in hexadecimal?

When you enroll a client computer to a Windows Server 2003 certification authority (CA) and view the user certificate, the common name (CN) is displayed in hexadecimal.

This behavior will occur on client computers that are running Windows 9x, because they cannot read UTF-8 encoded strings.

To resolve the issue, either reset the CA to use Unicode strings, or upgrade the client to a newer Windows operating system.
