JSI Tip 6264. The wave file associated with a Windows 2000 message box does not play correctly?

When you see a Critical Notification message box, the associated sound has skips and glitches?

You can attempt the following workaround:

1. Copy / Paste the following to a Kmixer.reg file:

\[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Multimedia\WDMAudio\Kmixer\]
"MinNumMixBuffers"=dword:0000000c
"StartNumMixBuffers"=dword:0000000c
"MaxNumMixBuffers"=dword:00000010

2. Merge the Kmixer.reg file with your registry or run regedit /s Kmixer.reg.

3. Shutdown and restart Windows 2000.
