JSI Tip 6021. The ASR restore may fail if the ASR media is on the C: drive?

When you create ASR media on the C: drive of your computer, the ASR recovery may fail.

During the ASR recovery operation, the C: drive is repartitioned, which may cause the .bkf file to become corrupted.

Microsoft recommends that you do NOT store the ASR media on the System or Boot partitions.
