When you resume from standby or hibernation on your Windows XP SP1 computer, IEEE 1394 storage devices, such as a CD-ROM or external disk drive, are NOT properly detected and do NOT function properly.
To workaround this problem:
1. Disconnect the device from the computer before entering standby or hibernation.
2. Enter standby or hibernation mode.
3. After you resume, reconnect the device, making sure the system detects it before you use it.
