JSI Tip 5548. How do I disable Windows 2000 or Windows XP system beeps?

To prevent Windows 2000 or Windows XP from issuing a system beep:

1. Copy / Paste the following into a silence.reg file:

REGEDIT4

\[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Sound\]
"Beep"="no"

2. Merge the silence.reg file with the user's registry.

NOTE: You must log off and log on for the setting to take effect.
