JSI Tip 5341. File name 'vserver' error during a Windows XP upgrade?

During a Windows XP upgrade from Windows 98 or Windows Me, your computer stops responding while checking compatibility. You may receive:

An error has occurred. Press enter to return to Windows. Filename vserver (01)+00004d7d, error: 0e:0028:c1xxxxxx.

If you are upgrading from Windows 98, rename %windir%\system\Vserver.vxd to %windir%\system\Vserver.old, where %windir% is the drive letter and folder where Windows 98 is installed. Then restart the upgrade.

If you are upgrading from Windows Me, start msconfig and select the General tab. Press Selective startup and clear the Load Static VxDs box. After pressing OK, restart Windows Me and restart the Windows XP upgrade.
