JSI Tip 4907. Windows XP program started from a custom shortcut key does NOT start in the proper folder?

When you start a program on the desktop from a custom shortcut key, the program may not start in the proper folder?

If you double-click the icon, the program starts in the proper folder?

If you experience both of the above, your shortcut's Start in box is blank.

When the shortcut's Start in box is blank:

- Starting the application from a shortcut key causes the current working folder to be used,
which is generally the path to your profile, %SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\<UserName>.

- Starting the application by double-clicking the shortcut causes the path to the executable's folder to be used.

To fix this behavior, open the shortcut's Properties and configure the Start in box to be the proper folder.
