In Windows 2000, a global group name that contains more than 20 characters is invalid and cannot be created.
NOTE: Windows NT 4.0 allowed creation of invalid group names.
A global group can contain any uppercase or lowercase characters except the following:
" / \ \[ \] : ; | = , + * ? < >NOTE: A global group cannot consist only of periods and spaces.
A local group can contain up to 256 characters.
A local group can contain any uppercase or lowercase characters except the backslash (\).
NOTE: If you upgraded from Windows NT 4.0 and have groups that contain illegal characters or length, I would rename them.
