JSI Tip 3484. What are the Regxxxxx files accumulating on my compter?

When you use Windows 2000 backup to backup a Windows 2000 or Windows NT computer over the network, NTBackup leaves  Regxxxxx work files on the client disk drives, where xxxxx is any 5 characters. These temporary files consume space and are NOT needed after the backup is complete.

The temporary files are can be located in the following folders:

%SystemRoot%\System32
\Documents and Settings\%UserName%
\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft
%SystemRoot%\Profiles
The best way to clean these files is to run NTBackup in a batch file and use the del command to delete the Regxxxxx when the backup is finished.
