When you boot normally, your keyboard and mouse (PS/2 or Serial) works, but either may not work when you boot
to Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking?
This condition is the result of some missing or damaged registry entries.
Copy / Paste the following text into a .reg file:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 \[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\\{4D36E96B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318\}\] @="Keyboard" \[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\\{4D36E96F-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318\}\] @="Mouse" \[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Network\\{4D36E96B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318\}\] @="Keyboard" \[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Network\\{4D36E96F-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318\}\] @="Mouse"Double click the .reg file and press Yes in response to:
Are you sure you want to add <Drive:>\<Filename>.reg to the registry?
NOTE: The above registry entries are the same on all Windows 2000 computers.
