JSI Tip 2210. My Windows NT 4.0 installation gets 'access denied' when connecting to a share?

If you receive Access is denied when connecting to a share, it may be that you do not have Execute (X) permissions on all the folders that must be traversed.

You can open a fully qualified name without Execute permissions, as in

NOTEPAD \\ServerName\ShareName\Folder\file.txt

but if you don't have execute permissions on a parent folder, you can't navigate.

NOTE: You probably set Read access using Special Directory Access.
