JSI Tip 1420. All my objects are not displayed in Control Panel / Multimedia?

If the number of objects causes the size of the key at:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32

to exceed 512 bytes, not all objects will be displayed. This is approximately 50 objects. Objects that are not displayed should still function normally.

You can use Control Panel / Multimedia / Devices to remove unused
audio, video codecs, sound drivers and/or video capture devices.

You can also use Regedit to Export

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32

to a MultiM.reg file and edit it (right click and select Edit), moving the items you want displayed to the top of the list. Don't leave any blank lines. When you are finished, Import the MultiM.reg file.

NOTE: You can Export by typing:

regedit /e <Drive:>\Folder\MultiM.reg "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32"
NOTE: You can Import silently by typing:

regedit /s <Drive:>\Folder\MultiM.reg

NOTE: See Alter .REG file default behavior.
