When you try to delete a folder on a shared resource, using Windows NT Explorer, you are unable to delete it. You experience this difficulty when the folder name does not conform to 8.3 naming convention.
If you set NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation to a 1, setting it to 0 may solve the problem.
If you don't wish to enable 8.3 name creation, use either of the following to delete the folder:
- Use Windows NT Explorer to delete it locally (on the server).
- Use File Manager (winfile.exe).
- Use a command prompt.
NOTE: If you alter NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation, you will need to reboot.
