If you install Windows XP SP2, or upgrade Windows XP to SP2, after the restart when the GUI mode finishes, your computer hangs at the Windows XP logo screen with:
Please wait…
This behavior occurs if you computer uses the C3 800MHz and Eden ESP 3000/4000/5000/6000 Samuel2 Family=6 Model=7 VIA processor or the C3 1.0GHz Ezra-T Family=6 Model=8 VIA processor.
To workaround this behavior:
1. Restart your computer to that SP2 Setup can continue.
2. Start /Run / CMD / OK.
3. Type CHKDSK /F and Press Enter.
4. If prompted, schedule the CHKDSK for the next restart.
NOTE: You can prevent this behavior by upgrading to Windows Media Player 10 before applying SP2.
