When you drag a file to a PowerPoint 2003 slide on Windows 2000, the path may be incorrectly converted to a short path.
This behavior will occur if the file extension is longer than 3 characters or the file extension is no longer associated with the original program.
To workaround this behavior:
1. Open a CMD.EXE window.
2. Type assoc .extension=ftype and press Enter, where .extension is the file extension and ftype is the open command string. See Manage file associations from the command line.
