JSI Tip 0756. Special Folder keys.

In tip 0009, we used the Control Panel special folder key to place Control Panel on your start menu. We could have just as easily placed it on a desktop or any Explorer folder.

Here are some additional Special Folder keys:

If you wanted to created a Printers folder on your desktop, simply create a Printers.\{2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D\} folder in Explorer (or a <anything>.\{2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D\} folder and then drag it to your desktop (or copy or move it to a users profile /Desktop folder).

The Bitmap Image has a unique property. If you rename a bitmap ( .BMP) to <anything>.\{D3E34B21-9D75-101A-8C3D-00AA001A1652\} it becomes permanently associated MSPaint.exe. You can rename it JSI_MADE_ME.DO_IT but it will still open as a bitmap in MSPaint. If you rename any other file type (like this file, rh0756.htm) to <anything>.\{D3E34B21-9D75-101A-8C3D-00AA001A1652\}, MSPaint won't open it when you double click, nor can you use the Open Dialogue in NotePad or IE to open it. You can, however, use a Send To to open it.
