A. There are several ways to determine what your Windows NT machine’s role is. However, the easiest method is to type the command

net accounts

The bottom of the output shows the computer’s role as one of the following items:
Workstation: A normal NT Workstation machine
Server: A standalone NT Server machine
Primary: A PDC
Backup: A BDC
