Update: Microsoft has confirmed that this trade in offer is also available in their brick and mortar store locations.
As I reported earlier today Microsoft's Surface 3 is now available at retail stores and online.
The newest member of the Surface family is a full Windows machine capable of running any software that is available for Windows as well as those apps in the Windows Store.
There are likely some of you out there, like myself, who purchased the Surface RT or maybe the Surface 2 and would like to upgrade to Surface 3.
Performance wise that would be a great upgrade from those devices and now Microsoft is offering a way for you to get a little credit for those Surfaces and then apply it towards the purchase of a new Surface 3.
A new trade in program, which runs from today until 31 May 2015, will give you that opportunity.
In order to start the trade in process visit http://microsoftsurfacetrade.cexchange.com/online/home/index.rails and then select your device. There are some questions to answer and then you will be given the trade in value and further instructions for sending in your device and accessories. The amount you will receive in trade in value will be finalized once they receive and examine the device.
You will then receive a redemption code you can use online at the Microsoft Store to purchase your Surface 3. That code will not expire until 30 June 2015.
Before you ask - there is a limit of one trade in per Surface 3 purchase - no stacking of your trade in value.

My Surface 2 would garner the maximum trade in value of $150 while my wife's Surface RT would be eligible for $100. If you happen to have the Surface 2 with 4G then it would be worth the maximum of $150. Of course these numbers are based on trading in fully functioning devices, type covers and power supplies.
Is an offer like this enough to prompt you to do the upgrade to Surface 3?
