This week's questions cover topics for Exam 70-215: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Windows 2000 Server.

In Windows 2000, Dfs lets administrators present a logical view of a network's folders and files, regardless of their physical location. The first step in creating a Dfs tree is to create the Dfs root. Next, you create nodes, which are known as Dfs links. Which of the following statements about the creation of the Dfs root and Dfs links are correct? (Choose all that apply.)
- You can create a domain-based Dfs root only on Win2K Server computers.
- You must create a Dfs root on an NTFS partition.
- You must create a Dfs root on a dynamic disk.
- You can create Dfs links only on Win2K Server computers.
- You must create Dfs links on NTFS partitions.
- You must create Dfs links on a dynamic disk.
Question 2
You have decided to use Windows 2000 Server Terminal Services to give your users access to certain applications. Your network supports the following clients:
- 30 Win2K Professional machines

You maintain a one-domain environment with four domain controllers (DCs), and you haven't transferred any of the Operations Master roles. One day, another administrator removes AD from the first domain controller (DC) you installed on the domain. You want to make sure that your users can still make changes to objects in the database. What must you do to ensure that operations continue as they should?
- Nothing—Windows 2000 will automatically promote a DC to PDC.
- Nothing—Win2K will automatically transfer the Operations Master roles to another DC.
- Promote one of the functional DCs to PDC.

Answer to Question 1
The correct answer is A—You can create a domain-based Dfs root only on Win2K computers. Because a domain-based Dfs root stores its topology in Active Directory (AD), you can create the root only on a machine that runs one of the Win2K Server OSs. Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 (SP3) or later systems can host a standalone Dfs root, but not a domain-based Dfs root.
NTFS isn't required for Dfs links, but Microsoft recommends it because of the additional security that NTFS provides and because the File Replication Service (FRS) can perform automatic replication only on NTFS volumes.
Answer to Question 2
The correct answer is B—Terminal Services will support all your client OSs without third-party software; you'll need 80 TSCALs. Other clients (e.g., Macintosh clients) require third-party software such as Citrix Metaframe. Win2K Pro clients don't require TSCALs; NT 4.0, Win9x, and WFW clients do.
Answer to Question 3
The correct answer is B—Nothing—Win2K will automatically transfer the Operations Master roles to another DC. By default, Win2K gives all the Operations Master roles to the first DC you install on a domain. If you remove AD from this DC, the DC relinquishes its roles to another DC in the domain. However, if the transfer fails, you might have to transfer or seize the Operations Master roles.
