The CD-ROM drive on my Dell C600 notebook won't work as a hot-swappable drive in Windows 2000. However, other people who own Dell notebooks can hot-swap the drive without difficulty. As far as I can tell, the machines are identical. Any ideas?

A. After some research, I found that Dell shipped some of its C600 notebooks with Samsung CD-ROM drives. Your problem occurs only on notebooks that use the Samsung drive. The C600 notebooks that shipped with the TEAC CD-ROM drive exhibit no such hot-swap problems.
