Browser Service Tweak

I want to prevent Windows NT's Browser Service from reporting certain servers on my network. However, I still want to be able to use the Uniform Naming Convention (UNC) format to find these servers. Any ideas?

Under NT, you can hide servers but still use UNC to browse them. Open your favorite registry editor (i.e., regedit.exe or regedt32.exe), and go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters subkey. Add the hidden value of data type REG_DWORD. To hide the computer, give the value a setting of 1 (i.e., hidden), as Figure 1 shows.
