MuleSoft Automation to Improve ITOps and Digital Transformation

Salesforce looks to support a new era of digital transformation with its MuleSoft Automation tools announced at the MuleSoft Connect conference.

Digital transformation has been a hot topic in ITOps in recent years.

According to David Schmaier, Salesforce's president and chief product officer, digital transformation has "transformed" in the last year. Schmaier made his observation during a press conference at the MuleSoft Connect 2022 event that was held on June 29. Salesforce acquired MuleSoft in 2018 and has been busy ever since expanding the company's API and data integration software.

At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, digital transformation for organizations around the world meant using digital as a new online channel because they had to close physical locations and conduct all business online, according to Schmaier. Now, with the reopening of the global economy, the term "digital transformation" is taking on a new meaning, with the desire by organizations to be more efficient with digital efforts, he said.

"The top priority that I'm hearing from customers in every single industry is all about automation," Schmaier said. "I believe automation is at the center of digital transformation, and MuleSoft is the key piece of this puzzle."

MuleSoft Connect Event Outlines Digital Transformation Automation Strategy

At the Salesforce TrailblazerDX '22 event that took place on April 27, MuleSoft announced the integration of its technology into the Salesforce Flow workflow automation service, as well as the launch of the MuleSoft Anypoint Code Builder.

At MuleSoft Connect 2022, the company took its automation strategy a step further with the MuleSoft Automation platform. More than a decade ago, MuleSoft pioneered a simple, yet very powerful idea for code reuse and service integration, according to Shaun Clowes, the company's chief product officer.

"Why crank out custom code over and over when it's faster and more efficient to assemble the right components that can then be leveraged anywhere?" Clowes said. "What if you could create unique experiences by piecing together reusable building blocks just like you would with Legos? And that the answer to that question was how MuleSoft redefined integration."

MuleSoft Automation Unites Tools

MuleSoft is now looking to support a more expansive approach to IT service and application development and integration that helps to enable the modern approach to digital transformation. MuleSoft Automation combines multiple tools into a platform that provides organizations with the ability to build, integrate, secure, and govern services.

MuleSoft Automation includes no-code development capabilities from MuleSoft RPA (robotic process automation), which allows users to automate repetitive manual tasks with bots. MuleSoft Composer is also part of the suite, giving users the ability to quickly collect data from enterprise applications such as Slack, Stripe, Twilio, and NetSuite. MuleSoft Anypoint brings API management capabilities to the new suite.

"By using these technologies together, automations can benefit from hundreds of connectors to important systems and directly invoke APIs created by technical teams," Clowes said.
