Starting with SP4, Windows NT 4.0 includes an updated NTFS driver which supports reading and writingto a Windows 2000 NTFS volume. Install SP4 or greater prior to installing Windows 2000.

When you install Windows 2000, all mounted NTFS volumes are converted. This new NTFS supports features like disk quotas, encrytion, and mount points. These features will only work when booted to Windows 2000.
