Getting Started with Microsoft’s BI Stack

Implementing business intelligence (BI) in your database environment can be an overwhelming process. Not only do you have all that data to manage, but there are hundreds of BI solutions out there that work on a myriad of hardware solutions. And cost is a whole other challenge. If you’re like me, sometimes you just need to see how someone else did it in their environment before you can kick start the project in your company.

To see how another company handled the decision making, purchasing, and implementation process, I suggest you check out my interview with Premier Bankcard’s Directing Officer of BI Ron Van Zanten, “Implementing Microsoft's BI Platform,” which is available for free access. Ron gave me an inside look at how his team implemented Microsoft’s BI platform and the challenges they faced along the way.

And to see a use case for implementing SQL Server in general, I recommend Sheila Molnar’s interview with three MySpace executives (“MySpace Answers the Question: Why SQL Server?”).
